UA Student Life is partnering with others in the campus community to introduce an innovative resource designed to enhance campus safety and make it easier for students to report concerns. Text UAct is a confidential reporting system that allows students to anonymously report issues such as hazing, conduct violations, and other misconduct via text message. Powered by Real Response, a platform originally developed for anonymous communication with athletes and coaches, this system has been adapted to support campus communities across the country.
UAct offers a simple, confidential, and accessible way to report concerns without the need for formal paperwork or in-person meetings. By sending a text, students can quickly provide important context, including photos or videos, all while maintaining privacy.
The Division of Student Life is dedicated to serving our students and ensuring they feel comfortable addressing concerns, knowing their voices matter.
“We are always looking to continuously improve our operations and service to students. We see this as a way to meet our students where they are – on their phones – and provide anonymity to the student by partnering with an external vendor [Real Response] that has a trusted reputation among some of our peers,” said Todd Borst, director of Student Conduct.
UAct is a key part of the University’s larger strategic goal to enhance student wellness and safety, and it fosters better campus collaboration. This initiative ensures a coordinated response from key areas on campus (including Student Conduct, Student Care and Well-Being, Title IX and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, for example), allowing concerns to be addressed quickly and effectively by the appropriate office. By using technology students are already familiar with, UAct eliminates barriers to reporting, empowering students to act when they witness or experience something concerning. This new tool is better aligned with the needs of today’s students by making reporting easier to access while keeping confidentiality at the forefront.
To report a concern, text 888-708-8433 (TIDE). The service maintains your anonymity, and a UA staff member will follow up with you, without seeing the phone number that submitted the report. For more information about UAct, visit Text UAct.
