In honor of National Sibling Day, we are shining a spotlight on sibling pairs who are making a difference as resident advisors (RAs) in Housing and Residential Communities. These dynamic duos are not only building strong communities but also creating unforgettable memories as they work side by side in leadership roles. As RAs, they bring their unique sibling bond to the table, supporting each other and their peers through everything from fostering a sense of belonging to resolving challenges. By working together, they’re showing that a mix of teamwork and family makes all the difference in creating a positive, thriving community for students.
Anika and Aniah Clark

Anika and Aniah, siblings from Montgomery, Alabama, were both drawn to The University of Alabama by its vibrant school spirit and the generous scholarships they received. Aniah, a sophomore studying kinesiology with a focus on exercise science, and Anika, a senior in the same field with a minor in nutrition, both serve as RAs at Tutwiler Hall. Anika started as an RA in Fall 2022 and loved it so much that Aniah decided to follow in her footsteps just a year later, applying during her first semester. For these sisters, working together has its perks— like Anika getting to keep her closet to herself (most of the time!) and Aniah never having to worry about running out of essentials like laundry detergent.
One of their favorite memories was working the Tutwiler Carnival together playing games, eating snacks and even dancing with Big Al for hours. The pair are glad they have each other on campus. They always know that if anything happens, they’ve got family close by. Anika says their bond as sisters, combined with their shared experiences at UA, has made their time at college even more memorable.
Wyatt and William Pettry

Originally from Guntersville, Alabama, Wyatt and William are currently studying music education at The University of Alabama. William, who is currently a junior, say he feels incredibly lucky to have received a scholarship that allowed him to attend UA, and he takes great pride in being part of the successful School of Music. Over the course of his time at UA, being an RA has been a significant part of his experience. As his brother, Wyatt, approached his final year at the University, he became interested in joining the staff after seeing the professional and financial benefits William had gained from the position. Wyatt decided to apply, and now the two brothers work together in Burke West.
It has been a special experience for this pair, as they only live a floor apart, making it easy for them to spend time together. They say moving in at the same time this year was a fun change, as they usually arrive on campus at different times. William says working alongside his brother has been a blessing, and he encourages anyone who can work with a sibling to make the most of it and not take it for granted.
Belle and Philip Fant

Belle and Philip were raised in Mobile, Alabama, a place that instilled in them a deep sense of community. From a young age, they’ve been Alabama fans, with cherished memories of watching football games and visiting campus with their family. Their connection to UA grew even stronger when their oldest brother attended the University and became an RA. Witnessing his experience firsthand inspired them both, and when it came time to choose a college, UA was the clear choice. Now, as RAs themselves, Belle and Philip are proud to continue the family tradition, creating their own memories and making their mark on the place that has always held a special place in their hearts.
Belle, a senior, and Philip, a junior, are both studying biology on the pre-medical track. Belle serves as an RA in Martha Parham Hall West on the 3rd floor, while Philip is in Martha Parham Hall East, also on the 3rd floor. Their shared experience of working together has been rewarding, and Belle finds comfort in having Philip nearby for collaboration, support, or a quick chat. Philip agrees, saying it’s always reassuring to know he has someone in his corner. One of Philip’s favorite memories with Belle is blasting late 2000s pop music while doing move-in and working the sign-in booth. For Belle, it’s the fun moments like playing Mario Kart together during a programming event that stand out. Since they’re both pursuing the same major, the siblings consider each other built-in study partners, navigating the ups and downs of their academic journey together. There’s something uniquely comforting about facing the same challenges, whether it’s studying for exams, preparing for labs, or just venting after a tough day. They enjoy having someone who truly understands what the other is going through. Philip is proud to see how much they’ve both grown, and Belle is excited about the future, with plans to attend medical school together after they finish their time at UA.
