Clay Shooting Team Excels in National Championships

This year, ten University of Alabama (UA) students on the recreational Clay Shooting Team competed at the 2023 National Collegiate Shooting Sports Athletic Association (NCSSAA) National Championships held in Las Vegas, Nevada over spring break. The team performed excellently overall, placing in the top three teams in every Division 1 event. Additionally, three team members won individual events and became national champions during the competition! Those team members are Baylor Garland, team president, Adam McNutt, team vice president, and Emma Zerby, team secretary. Baylor and Adam were also named on the All-American teams for the 2022-2023 season, meaning they rank in the top five clay shooters in the nation.

Chris Adams, the assistant director of sport programs at UA University Recreation, said, “I was delighted to hear that our Clay Shooting team performed so well at nationals. Club athletes and officers put in a lot of work both administratively and for training to make opportunities possible. Seeing that hard work pay off brings University Recreation and Sport Programs a lot of pride. Clay Shooting has success from year–to-year and we are glad to see this year was no different,” he said.
